"Parents face brand new challenges in our current culture. Families are being influenced by powerful cultural forces that undermine the quality of relationships. That sets the stage for stress and conflict between parents and their children. Families should be a unit of love, support, and empowerment. Working with families over the years, I’ve learned what makes that happen and what kills it. The best part is that it’s really not that difficult to fix."

Michael Williamson, the primary author of the Raise A Kid R.I.G.H.T. ® curriculum possess a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology and is a certified school counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor Intern (retired). He has over 30 years experience teaching Psychology and Human Growth and Development on the college level. In addition to his efforts on behalf of children and parents, he is currently an adjunct Professor of Student Development.
In addition to counseling with children and their parents for all his professional life, Michael coordinated, developed, and taught parenting classes at multiple school districts. He developed Raise A Kid R.I.G.H.T® after years of observing what successful parents have in common and where struggling parents often fail.
The acronym R.I.G.H.T. stands for RESPECT, INVEST, GRANT, HUMOR, and TEACH. It is around these five categories that the curriculum is built and presented. Our course was developed with the idea that the concepts found in successful parenting are relatively simple and straightforward, and, if carried out with fidelity, will work with virtually any child. Our research and experience has supported this idea time and again.
